Christmas Light Extravaganza

We have a little family tradition of driving around together and looking at Christmas lights. There are a few places around our house that really go all out and we have gone there the past few years. We also found out about a few new places this year. It is amazing to see how much effort goes into some of these light displays and I greatly appreciate it when I hear our precious little girl calling out excitedly from the backseat, "LOOK MOMMY! OVER THERE! ALL THE LIGHTS!"The first place we went to was a house that synchronizes their lights to a sound track. You can tune your radio to the frequency and watch the lights as they dance and twinkle in time to several Christmas songs. There is always a line of cars waiting to park in the best spot and so your end up waiting a bit before you can get a good spot. We always wonder how much these people pay for their electrical bill around Christmas.
The next spot we went to was about 4 miles up the road where the owners have every square inch of their front yard covered in lights and blow up Christmas characters. They even have them on the roof. They also have a whole display on their porch and you are invited to walk around their property to see it all. They have a full Christmas village in their bay window and a couple of mechanical life-sized Santas. Jasmine loved this house and I got some fun pictures here.We saw some other nicely decorated homes as we aimlessly drove around and we ended our evening in Lorton where I had seen a house all decked out and I wanted to show Lorne. It was a fun time where we got to sit in our warm car together as a family and appreciate other people's hard labor as they tried to capture the spirit of the season through the Christmas Light Extravaganza.
