Best Christmas Party of the Season

We have made some friends since Jasmine has been going to preschool and it has been so fun to meet new parents and know they live in the area. One of these families are the Tabakas (Adam, Chrissy and their kids AJ, Nita and Owen). I may ave mentioned in an earlier post (as in a few months ago) that Jasmine has taken a great interest in a little boy named AJ. He is in the Tabaka family and we have had lots of laughs over their little romance and Chrissy (AJ's mom) refers to Jasmine as her future daughter in law. Recently we were invited to Adam's 30th birthday party (AJ's dad) and we had an amazing time there. We were excited when we received an invitation to the Tabaka's annual Christmas party. They hold it at the Mount Vernon Country Club and Santa makes a special visit. We had Jasmine's first dance recital that day as well so we took Jasmine in her Christmas PJ's so we wouldn't have to leave too early to change her into her costume. No one seemed to mind or notice.I was also excited because Chrissy ordered cookies from Occasionally Cake for the party and so I arrived and set up my cookies among the amazing spread of food they already had. You know me - I always have to talk about the food. They had a full buffet with food geared for the adults and food geared for the kids. They had everything from Macaroni and Cheese to dino shaped chicken nuggets, french fries, fruit, hamburgers, salads, hot dogs, and so much more. They had the cookies and some yummy looking cheesecakes for dessert. I meant to eat a piece but never got around to it.They had crafts for the kids - an amazing amount of different and fun Christmas crafts and they had music for the kids to dance as well. The Tabaka family puts this party on for all the children in their life and there were about 70 kids there. It was amazing. They did a cute little dance called the Tottie Ta and Jasmine totally got into it. As you would expect, all eyes were on her as she grooved to the song. After a bit of dancing, Santa arrived and all the kids got a turn to sit on his lap and tell them what they wanted for Christmas and they each got a goodie bag from him filled with candy goodness. Jasmine was first in line and she was super excited to have another chance to let Santa know what she had in mind for the gifts under the tree. After seeing Santa, we sat down to eat and we shared a table with our dear friends the Traugers. All the food was delicious and even Jasmine ate well and sat relatively still. It was also exciting that all my cookies were the first things to go at the dessert table. I always love to watch people enjoy the things I make and this was no exception. They also gathered all the children and took a picture of the group. Jasmine got a bit upset because she wanted to stand next to AJ but he wanted to stand next to other friends. She had a spat with him complete with yelling that she wouldn't be his friend ever again. Two minutes later she was back hugging him and they were together again. I took a few cute pictures of them together. We had to leave a bit early to get Jasmine to her recital but I know we had a great time and Jasmine had a superb time. It was the best party we were invited to this season. Jasmine left with all her goodies and a special gift the Tabakas gave to all the children, a copy of the Curious George Christmas book.
