Celebrating Dad's Birthday

The holiday whirlwind has begun and with that the hurried celebrations of the family winter birthdays. I always feel bad because it is hard to find time to fit in the family birthdays during this time but we do the best we can.
We got together at mom and dad's house for dinner and cake. It was low key but really nice to be together. My friend Jan, from Germany was in town so he got to join in on the fun. It was also fun to have Ryan and Roman there - Casey had school that night which was a shame because she shares a birthday with Dad and we couldn't have her there to celebrate her.My favorite part of the night had to have been when it was time for Dad to blow out the candles. Well, in true Maher fashion, Mom didn't have candles so she lit a taper and had blow that out. This has happened for past 3 years at least and it doesn't cease to be humorous. The night was short as I had to return to work but we all had fun together - and that is what matters most.
