Each year, when we throw the kids birthday parties, having a theme is always important to me. It helps with decor, food, and games. Since Jasmine also likes to invite everyone, I am sensitive to not have a theme that boys would hate. This year, we decided on a luau theme. It is especially fun because it is hot and we like to put out the kiddie pools and the slip and slide so the kids can have fun and get wet. We were so excited because a lot of people had RSVP-ed.We had a great menu. We made coconut and mango rice, chicken and pineapple skewers, fruit salad and pani popo - a bread that Lorne made with coconut milk that is to die for.We decorated everything luau style and it looked great. There were probably around 50 people that came to the party and it was amazing. I had such a great time watching everyone have fun. Some people who came have some to all of Jasmine's birthday parties since she was born - like the Astles and the Zarcones! When it was time for the cake, there was great excitement. I made Jasmine her 3 tiered luau cake and we did some yummy flavors. By the time I was done cutting the cake there was not a crumb left - it was like the great cake rush of 2010! I was so happy that everyone loved it.The kids did a sun catcher craft and all the other activities and I hope they all slept well that night! Jasmine loved opening her gifts and everyone was so generous and creative. We will be having fun doing crafts and playing all summer!
