Last Hoorah - Last Day

On Saturday, we went to Water Country, a massive water park with a massive price! We didn't care, we just wanted to have fun and enjoy the day. Sometimes it is difficult to know what Lorne is really feeling when we go to water parks (not that it is that often) because he is so fair skinned the first thought in his mind is always, "I can't be out too long or I will fry." It kinda takes some of the joy away from him. Sad. I made sure to slather him with sunscreen (sunscream as Jas calls it) and when we left at 3 PM, he was only a little sun kissed.
When we arrived at the park we started in the kiddie section. Jasmine loved it. She wanted to try everything out but was a little hesitant of the water slides. This was not new since at Cameron Run on her birthday I had to force her on and then she decided once was enough for her.
We warmed her up to the idea of the rafting water slide by taking her on the very bunny slope of water slides. Lorne and I took turns taking her because after I took her once, she wanted to keep going on it. She rode that slide about 6 times before we finally took her to another ride.
We took her on a slide called Big Daddy Falls and I was surprised they let a child Jasmine's size get on it. But, she was wearing a life vest and I promised to hold on to her so off we went. She was OK with it - she decided once on that one was enough. We also took her to an enclosed tube water slide. I was nervous about this one as Jasmine has a history of not liking to go down the tube slide at the park. Up until this point, I had never seen her do it and I wasn't about to start pushing her with her fears. Lorne however has a way of soothing her and getting her to do certain things she is afraid of. Well, sometimes anyway, we do have an independant daughter who makes her own choices in these matters. The thing is, once we climbed all the stairs to get to the top (there were a lot of them and we also stood in line for close to an hour) there was only one way down. I wasn't about to climb back down those stairs and forfeit my turn on the great black water tube. Jasmine didn't look thrilled but we managed to get her on and she seemed to like it at the end. I think she knew we would protect her.We also rode the Hubba Hubba Highway which I mistook for a lazy river. There was nothing lazy about this water feature. It was like a river with a great current and you simply floated on it with a lifevest on as the current pulled you along, quite exciting. Jasmine loved this one and she held onto myself or her daddy throughout the whole ride, we went around it twice, we liked it so much.
We finished our day at a second kiddie area that was full of water slides in the shape of different animals. Jasmine had a blast and went down all the slides numerous times without being coerced. The breakdown really came when we told her it was time to go. She didn't want a piece of that. We had to leave early as I had to get back for a Mormon Choir of Washington concert that very night. We gave in and bribed her with popcorn and dippin' dots and she came along without causing too much of a scene. We really had a great time with our friends that weeekend and loved spending time with the Astles and the Childs. We hope this really isn't our last Hoorah with the Childs, we hope they come back and visit and that we get to have many more great adventures in the future.

"Sun Kissed"?? You're crazy. That "kiss" stung like crazy for 3 days! Admittedly not the worst burn I've had, but painful nonetheless.

You should get yourself either a long sleeved rashie or maybe one of those full length LZR suits that all the swimmers are wearing. That'd keep you covered up!
Looks like it was a blast - Lizzie would be going mental if she'd been there! She loves water and knows absolutely no fear! She'd even go in mid-winter!
