Spring Break - Day 9

We were so lucky to be able to spend Easter in California with friends and some of our Australian family. The Slusser Family was very generous in sharing their Easter with us.
We hid the kids Easter baskets and they had to hunt for where the Easter Bunny had left them.  I had planned and prepared well and had purchased all the things I needed in Virginia and shipped them to myself in California so I wouldn't have to figure out how to go shopping when the girls were with me every minute.

We then prepared to go to church and the girls looked amazing in their Easter dresses.  I couldn't help but have a little photo shoot with them.

After church, we prepared food in anticipation of the arrival of the Blair Campbell family for Easter dinner.  The kids did an Easter egg hunt and found all of the eggs.

Dinner was delicious.  We had frog eye salad, ham, rolls, funeral potatoes and green salad.  For dessert, we had trifle and cookies.  It was delicious and fun!  All of the families got along really well and we even spent some time Facetiming with Lorne to try and include him in our festivities.

Spring Break - Day 8

The Aussie family wanted to go to Knots Berry Farm and we opted out of that trip as it is full of rides neither myself or Ava could have ridden and I didn't want every activity we did to be an amusement park.  While they went off to do more roller coasters, we went to the San Diego Zoo.
Apparently, the rest of SoCal had the same idea.  We had the hardest time finding parking and then once in the zoo, there were so many people, it was hard to get anywhere.  Plus, that zoo is ridiculously large and hilly.  I don't think I would ever go back after having much better experiences  at our own DC zoo which also happens to be free.
The problem I had at the San Diego Zoo was that they have tried so hard to make the exhibits really big for the animals but they seem to be really hard to navigate so we never got to see some of the animals we wanted to because of the layout of the zoo.  It was very frustrating and I didn't have the energy to try harder.  Plus the girls got tired as well and were frustrated at the fact that we kept finding ourselves where we didn't want to be.  What we did see, we enjoyed but I think we will stick to our zoo from now on!

After we made it back to Temecula, we went to have dinner at Claim Jumper and we took our friends, The Slussers with us so we could treat them to a night out as a thank you for all they had done for us.  We had fun being together, but unfortunately, the restaurant experience wasn't good.  It was shame because I like that restaurant and I only get to go when I am in Cali and it is rare I make the trip...
