Titi's Visit

The Sunday before last (March 30th), Natalia, my lovely cousin came to visit us for the afternoon and evening. We had a great time - Natalia joined us on our walk (we did 8 miles) and also for dinner and some fun Wii playing. It was nice to be able to have a quiet evening catching up and spending quality time together. Jasmine loves her Titi (love how Natalia has branded herself) and she didn't want to see her go. We didn't either!

Spontaneous Cherry Blossom Viewing

Traditionally, every year we go see the Cherry Blossoms with the Childs and we walk the tidal basin and take pictures. This yesr however, they went with Jeff's parents because they were in town to meet their new little bundle, Sarah. This left us without our tradition and Lorne also travelled this past week for work. I thought we just weren't going to make it this year.
The phone rang on Tuesday afternoon and Shelly was on the other end asking if we wanted to take a field trip to go see the blossoms that very afternoon. I thought a minute and said, "Sure." It was a lot of fun. We all piled in Shelly's car (I should have taken a picture, we were in like sardines!) and we went into the city. Once there, we met up with Matt and we walked to the blossoms and took some fun pictures. We also put out a blanket and sat and enjoyed and the girls blew bubbles and ran around and also had a little snack. It was a lot of fun and we really appreciate Shelly inviting us to come along!

Our Most Recent Creations

I realize that I have not posted cake pictures for a while so I will show you the latest in our collection of cakes. We did a sand castle wedding cake last weekend and this past weekend we did a Superman cake, a space shuttle and earth, and Jeff's 30th birthday cake. This week, we have done a cake for a new Navy Admiral, Cars cookies and a Cars cake - oh and the thank you cookies. We have 2 more cakes this week which we haven't made yet. This business is going so well, we can only hope it continues to grow and our customers keep coming back for more!

The Many Faces of my Growing Jasmine Bee

I recently got a new camera (my Nikon D40X - thanks babe!) and I have loved taking pictures of Jasmine with it. I have captured her sweet face in many moods and thought I would just share them with you.

The First Daffodil of Spring

When Lorne and I were married in the DC Temple almost 6 years ago, a lot of funny things happened. The sealer tried to marry me to a Colin (Co as in No) Campbell and Blair (Lorne's Brother) sat there laughing his head off before correcting him. But, amid all the funnies, the sealer said some very nice things to us, one of which we have never forgotten. He told Lorne how he should treat me as his wife and that he should always remember to bring me the first daffodil of spring. The spring after we were married, Lorne brought me the first daffodil that bloomed in our garden to show me he had not forgotten the words of the sealer, and every year since, he has always brought me the first daffodil that blooms in our garden.

This year was no different except he took Jasmine with him to pick the beloved flower for me. Jasmine got into it and insisted that she get what we have now affectionately called the second daffodil of spring. It made me smile to see the 2 daffodils blooming in the vase of water and seeing how our love continues to grow in our marriage and in our little family. What a beautiful symbol of the everlasting commitment we made to each other those 6 years ago.

More Easter

So, after Jasmine filled up her belly on Easter candy and we had her all dressed up, we went to church. It was nice, I sang in our ward choir but we only did 1 number. We are few in number but the song turned out as good as could have been expected. I ended up pinch hitting in Primary during the Senior Sharing Time. The counselor that had sharing time was going to show a video but we couldn't get the blasted thing to work so she asked me to entertain the kids while she went back to the library to get another player. Well, we started reading some scriptures out of John in the Bible about the events leading up to Easter. The kids were really receptive and there was a very sweet spirit in the room. Turns out the library didn't have any other DVD players available so I finished what I had started. It was great to share with these children my personal feelings about our Savior. After Jasmine's nap, we headed over to my parents house to see the family and everyone had presents for Jasmine - it was like Christmas! We had an Easter Egg hunt (see previous post) and then had some appetizers before dinner. The food was quite excellent. You know me, always talking about the food! There were deviled eggs, pizza quiena, and some little rye puffs filled with a cream cheese mixture that was quite good. Marcia joined us for dinner and it always nice to have her. We feel she has definitely become one of the family and hope she is always around to celebrate with us! Dinner was phenomenal - my mom really outdid herself. She made leg of lamb, green beans with egg, roasted potatoes, a cold Italian pasta salad (with a Parmesan chip and porccini mushrooms - watch out Top Chef!) , and honey glazed carrots. For dessert, she made an Italian cake with chocolate on the bottom. It was good. I even took leftovers!All in all, we had a great Easter and even though we were so busy, we focused on Christ and family and that was what I liked best!

Easter Morning

When Jasmine got up on Easter morning, she found that the Easter Bunny had been there and left her a basket of goodies. She delved right in (Daddy said it was OK - Mommy wasn't so sure). She went straight for the lollipop and then chocolate. She was pretty wired before we went to church, although she did manage to sit still long enough after she was dressed to have Daddy show her pictures and tell her the story of why we celebrate Easter.
