More cute Jasmine things

Jasmine just keeps saying more and more cute things that make us laugh. And sometimes she says these things when we are reprimanding her so we have to turn our heads and laugh so she doesn't see us and think it is cute (which it is).

She has also said some really incredible things lately. She is speaking in very complex sentences for her age and we are amazed by her. Yesterday, Jasmine was complaining of an owie boo boo in her mouth and Lorne figured out that she had a canker sore so he wrestled her and finally got some Orajel put on it. We promptly went out for dinner and about 10 minutes into the car ride, the sweetest voice could be heard from the back seat saying, "Daddy? Thank you so much for helping me fix my owie boo boo in my dientes (teeth)." We just melted and could eat her up. She has also been thanking me for helping her every time she asks for something. She amazes us.

She loves to play in bed with me and often on mornings when there is no school, we climb into bed and watch a little TV and wrestle and cuddle. Lately she loves to get under the covers and pull them over her head looking for monsters in the bed. She gets me under there too and I pretend to be a monster and she laughs hysterically. She will get under there and say, "Mommy, cierra la puerta (close the door)" - and she means to pull the covers over both of our heads in a tent-like fashion.

Jasmine thinks her teachers live at the preschool. This morning on our way to school Jasmine informed me that, "Ms. Rita has a tortuga (turtle) in her casa and I want to play with it." I thought it was odd that she would know that but I thought maybe the teacher had told her she had a pet turtle. I asked the teacher when I got to the school if she had a pet turtle and she laughed and said no. She then told me they have these little toy turtles in the class that kids like to play with. I realized she thought her teacher lived at school! What a silly goose!

Meeting Annie

On Friday we had the opportunity to go and meet Johanna Lynn Astle (AKA Annie). We wanted to take the Astle's dinner and since their ward relief society didn't start bringing them dinner until Saturday we were able to sneak one in. Jasmine was enchanted by the baby and has talked about her ever since. This afternoon she even said she wanted to see Ellie, Shelly, Matt and Baby Annie tonight. We had to tell her that wasn't going to happen.

We only stayed a few minutes but meeting the baby and seeing Shelly looking so well was worth it! Annie has amazingly long finers and feet! She also was blissfully asleep. How sweet! So welcome baby Annie, we're glad you're here!

Sorry for the quality of the pictures, I had to use our video camera as our regular camera had run out of battery!

Preschool Progress Report

Jasmine and her teacher Miss Teresa on Halloween

Jasmine's little school definitely takes itself seriously - and I am glad! We had a parent teacher conference today to discuss Jasmine's progress. They had this little handout with the skills they are working on in pre-school and she could get a score of G (means she is doing great at the skill) a W (needs work) or NA (not applicable). I was afraid that the teacher would tell me that Jasmine talked too much and didn't know how to wait for her turn.

Turns out, Jasmine is excelling at everything. They say she is a great child and a good helper. She always helps clean up and her vocabulary is phoenominal. So they had me sign the repot and I will get another report before the end of the school year and at the end of the school year I get the progress report as her souvenir from pre-school. I am going to try and list as many of the categories that I can remember fromher report that she received a G on - (there were a few NA such as brusing her teeth and potty training - I told the teacher she is indeed brushing her teeth at home and they seemed pleased by that!).

Has a strong vocabulary - G

Asks Questions - G

Responds to questions - G

Waits for her turn - G

Knows shapes and colors - G

Knows Body Parts - G

Helps clean up - G

Controls her emotions approprietly - G

Is a Happy Child - G

Does Art projects - G

Uses art tools aprroprietly - G

Sing along with class - G

Participates in musical activites - G

Jumping on 2 feet - G

Hopping on 1 foot (left and right) - G

Threading Beads - G

Coloring with Crayons - G

Drawing lines - G

There were also a few categories that they were working on as a class such as -

Using Paste approprietly - W

Balancing on 1 foot (left and right) - W

Working with scissors - W

Other notable things the teacher said were that Jasmine was an extremely musical child and that she was always one of the first to raise her hand when they were working on shapes and colors because she knows them all. She seems to be a student that actively participates in everything ( just like her mama).

Cupcake Catastrophe

We had one of our customers call us and order some cupcakes last minute for her daughter's kindergarten class. As this lady is from the UK she requested fireworks cupcakes because yesterday was Guy Fawkes Day and in the UK they have massive bonfires and fireworks to celebrate. Anyway, I digress...she came over yesterday morning at 8:30 AM to pick them up. She was in a rush because she had an appointment to get to so I walked to the door to see her off. She was rushing across the yard when SHE WENT DOWN! she fell flat onto the cupcake box. She got up a bit upset and I quickly said without even surveying the damage, "I can fix it!" Well, she said that she needed to have them to the school by 10:30 AM - I said she shouldn't worry and to call me when she was done at the gym (her appointment). She was pretty upset as she walked away saying it was the story of her life.

Well, I went to work. Luckily, we had a lot of cupcakes left over - we were only 4 short from filling the order. I looked in the box and there were 4 I could save if I scraped off the icing and re-did them. Since I already had colored buttercream, I quickly went to work. I had the cupcakes re-decorated in 40 minutes and she called me when I was boxing them up. I met her at the gym and gave her the new cupcakes. She said she was very grateful and left.

I believe in good customer service and I also thought of her little girl and how disappointed she would be if mom showed up to school without and cupcakes. I am glad I was able to do it and that I had made extra.

Cakes Again

This past week was exciting - we had our first paid wedding cake, a fun baby shower and our first corporate sent gift. We had a lot of fun with all of our products and the bride really loved her cake.

Jasmine's Beautiful

So we got Jasmine's pictures back from the preschool photo shoot and I was nervous as I wasn't there when the pictures were taken. They looked very nice, I was happy with how they turned out. Jasmine is a child so full of life, laughter and love. She is such a joy to be around and she is curious about everything going on around her and super observant. She likes to be involved in all activites and with everyone. She is so loving to all and it reminds me to always be as well. Young children don't judge people by their clothes, looks, or anything that we might find weird that makes us keep our distance from others. Jasmine loves everyone and is friendly to everyone. I want to encourage her to always be that way. We are all people struggling through life and sometimes all we need is a smile from a stranger to reassure ourselves that people still care. That is my little one. She blows kisses to everyone, she says hello and tries to engage conversation. We are so very proud of her and love her very much!

Last Week's Cakes

As we have been so busy with everything, I didn't have a chance to post the work we did last week, so here it is! We did the football cake for a 16 year old boy's birthday. We did the pink and green cake for Natalia's birthday and the Halloween Cookie bouquet for our party!
This week we had a very busy week. We did 8 dozen hand decorated sugar cookies (Halloween style) and 6 dozen cupcakes and this weekend we have a 2 tiered baby shower cake and a wedding cake to do - will post pictures when they are done!
