Family Fun at Frying Pan Park

On Columbus Day since Jasmine had the day off of school and the bakery is closed, we decided to have a family fun day and we headed off to a farm in Herndon called Frying Pan Park - I don't know why it is called this but it is what it is. I had long heard that is was a fun place to go and so we ventured out.
First, we went into the Visitor's Center and learned about cows and about the workings of this farm. Jasmine always has fun with anything interactive. We then walked around the farm and had fun looking at all of the animals there. There were even some beautiful calves out in the pasture. Jasmine was always trying to get the animals to come to her as she loves to pet pretty much any animal there is but very few allowed themselves to get close to that wild child!Ava had fun looking around at everything now that she is old enough to be front-facing in the baby carrier. She is always so compliant and sweet. We were lucky enough to catch the mama pig feeding her little ones and also managed to see a bit of natural cruelty as the poor little runt of the litter had a hard time getting in the pack to be fed. It was very hard for me to watch and my heart went out to the cute little baby pig. He fought hard but just couldn't get in. I later found out after asking that they do indeed supplement the runt and that he would be just fine.Jasmine had fun running around, playing on the tractors and she even got the chance to milk a cow. She was very apprehensive at first but she did it and even though she complained she didn't like it later, I was happy she at least gave it a try!It was a very fun day that we enjoyed together and I loved being able to do a fall activity with my family that gave me a break from all the pressures of the world.
