We love to have parties. One of the parties we have pretty much every year is our Saint Patrick's Day party. The format is the same each year - we dine on green food which everyone contributes and then we watch a very bad and cheesy movie centered around Leprechauns. This year was great - like each other year. I include some photo highlights.

USO Event
One of the fun aspects of my job is that I get to attend events and do things I never would have thought I would get the chance to do while being an owner of a cake shop. We also have the amazing opportunity to try and do some good by donating to many charitable organizations both locally and nationally.
We approached the USO to ask how we could partner with them and help them in their efforts and they asked us to donate goods to their fundraising awards event. They also invited us to attend the event.
I was nervous because being pregnant, there isn't much that looks good on me. I didn't own a formal maternity dress and so many that are out there weren't right for me and were super expensive. I decided my best bet would be to see if I could make a normal dress fir my pregnant frame.
I walked all over Potomac Mills looking for a dress that would work - and wouldn't you know that I found just one. But one was all I needed.
We delivered the cake and the 600 cookies without incident and arrived looking like a million bucks! That was a good thing since we met a couple of famous people while we were there!

Fort Washington
For 11 years I have lived here in the Mount Vernon area and use the GW Parkway to go to most of the places I frequent. It is a beautiful drive along the Potomac River no matter what time of year you go. It is my mother's favorite road as well.
One of the sites I have looked at for years across the river is Fort Washington. I always thought I should go and check it out but had never really made the time to do so. On this beautiful spring day in March, we decided to go and check it out and invite some of our most favorite people, the Darnell girls.
It is always fun to share new experiences with people that like to have as much fun and have the same adventurous spirit you do. That is what makes exploring with the Darnell girls so much fun! That and the fact that I love them all to distraction helps too!
We all had a blast - the girls had fun exploring the fort and rolling down the huge hills there. I was pleasantly surprised that there was more to see there than meets the eye. We also got lucky because we didn't have to pay to see it. Free family fun is what it is all about!
