I caught these two videos of Jasmine as she was practicing for a special musical number at my mom's ward a few weeks ago. She is such a musical child and it makes me laugh to see what she does with it! I think I need to call Mia Michaels, Jasmine's contemporary interpretation at this age is remarkable!

Latest Cakes

We made some good stuff last week. Jasmine's birthday party cake, some Father's Day orders and beach ball cookies. I am pleased because our technique is getting cleaner and better every time we make something new!

Violin Prafixt
Jasmine has been doing well at learning the violin. Obviously, she isn't playing full songs or anything but is learning her bow hold, the parts of the violin, and how to hold the violin corrsctly. She has also been learning a few rhythms and has learned 2 notes, A and E and can sing them respectively. She can pluck her A and E string and is eager to play a real song. Jason Day, her teacher is wonderful with her. He is patient and has many little tricks to get her to be still and pay attention during practice.
Jasmine does practice at home under our direction and we try our best to make sure she practices as much as we can get her to at this age. A few weeks ago, I took a video of her while she did what she calls her violin "prafixt". She really is into practicing things and will spontaneously announce at any given time, "Ladies, and Gentlemans, I will now prafixt my juggling (or magic, violin, singing, or anything else she can think of to practice)".

Summer Camp
After school let out, we had our fun vacation and tried a week at home with nothing structured for Jasmine to do. She hated it and I wasn't so fond myself so we put her in the last 2 weeks of camp at her preschool, Epiphany. Each week has a theme and last week was Beach week - they did all things related to the beach, playing in sand and water, Tye dye shirts, etc. This week was holiday week and they celebrated Halloween on Monday, Christmas on Tuesday, the Unbirthday on Wednesday, Valentine's Day and Father's Day on Thursday and today is the last day of camp and they are celebrating the 4th of July. On Tuesday when they celebrated Christmas, Jasmine lade an edible Christmas tree (please note her artistic talent - takes after her mother!) and I got some pictures of her eating it. All sugar, she loved it (what was not to love? Candy, icing, cookie...)
Today being the last day of camp is sad, but we will find more fun things to do and perhaps enroll her in Rainforest camp in August. She is very excited about her birthday party tomorrow and has been counting down sleeps until the party. One more sleep today! Yay!

In Mommy's shoes
I love to wear high heels and everytime I come home I tend to take them off right after closing the door to the house! I have a bad habit of leaving them in the doorway of the living room. Jasmine just loves to wear Mommy's shoes. Everytime I see her try and walk in them it is a reminder to me that even though my little one can be fractious, she still wants to be like Mommy and I need to remember to model good behavior for her and remember that she is always watching me. She is such a little darling and I know that she will grow to be much more of a woman than I!
